Alex made another tutorial video on how to make a cocktail called “Purgatorio”. This cocktail tasted very fancy but very easy to make with a few ingredients. It was made out of Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka, St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Aperitivo Aperol, Fresh-Squeezed Lime Juice and Fresh Mango Purée. It was very easy to drink with a smooth and citrus finish.
This song “I Don’t Want To Change You” by Damien Rice suited very well with this cocktail.
Hubby started this YouTube channel called “The Mixing Touch” for showing people how to make fancy cocktails at home with his own twist. The first tutorial that he produced was “Pink Flamingo”. This video was very easy to follow (see below). The drink was very sweet and smooth, almost tasted like a juice.
I couldn’t believe that I actually found this song called “Pink Flamingo” by Makala on YouTube.
We have been wanting to visit Gramercy Tavern for a long time. This place has also been rewarded with one star on the Michelin Guide as far as I can remember. Finally, we decided to visit here for celebrating my birthday. During lunch, the dining room wasn’t crowded at all. We had a several dishes and they were all very remarkable: braised Hinona turnips, beet mezzaluna, celery root chowder, duck breast & bacon, and pear pudding. Everything was fresh, seasonal and different than anything that we ever had.
The meal could really work with Stephanie Sun’s 尚好的青春. The song is about we should feel no regrets for our youth.
Alex’s bartender side came out again tonight. He made a Clermont Smash with some new liquors that he bought today. This cocktail could be sold at any high end cocktail lounges in Manhattan for $15+. I only tried one sip and loved it. Cheers to a Saturday night.
After walking around in East Village and wondering what to have for dinner, Alex and I walked into Zen 6. This place used to be owned by someone else and was a lot better in many ways. We had salmon don, ramen burger, BBQ eel roll, spicy yellowtail roll and vegetable gyoza. The food was OK. Ramen burger supposed to be the next big thing in NYC but this one wasn’t executed well, which fell apart easily. I probably will not go back here again.
Even though we didn’t have an amazing experience, I still wanted to make the most out of it and thought this beautiful song – Realize by Melody paired well with this meal.
Today, Alex and I didn’t bring lunch to work. Since Alex was new to the area, we decided to have Terrace Fish & Chips – a place that I have been for a several times and liked it. I got the grilled salmon with brown rice, mixed mesclun, carrot, cucumber and seasoned mushroom. Alex got fried fish with potato wedges. Both dishes were good. Fish were tender and juicy. I liked the seasoned mushroom a lot.
Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj reminded me of Bang Bang shrimp from Bonefish.
I always preferred Old German Bakery over Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken. There were indoor and outdoor seatings. To sit inside, we were able to interact with the owner, who was a very friendly and interesting person. He told us that everything in the store was imported from Germany. All items (sweet and savory) were baked in the store. We were impressed. When sat outside, we had the opportunity to do some people watching. For the dessert, we tried something new today – chocolate due cake, which was made with chocolate mousse and chocolate cake. It was outside of our conform zone but surprisingly it was amazingly good.
I thought this German song would pair well with this meal – Unter meiner Haut by Elif.
Today, a family friend of ours was visiting NYC for the first time. I have been knowing her since I was a baby. It was very cool to meeting with someone after a long time. We decided to have BCD Tofu House – a busy Korean restaurant, which was located in midtown Manhattan. Everyone had a great time. Food was great.
We had scallion pancakes, spicy pork bulgogi, grilled yellow corvina, grilled mackerel, mushroom tofu soup and seafood tofu soup. A fried baby yellow corvina came as a banchan dish for everyone, which was pretty cool.
Today was also the first day after I received my new iPhone 6 Plus. I put it to the test, since the restaurant was pretty dark during the night. The photos came out awesome. I loved it.
I felt Come & Get It by Selena Gomez paired well with this meal.
Today was Jeter’s last home game before he retired. Alex and I decided to watch it in the stadium, which was also our first visit since the new stadium was opened. There weren’t too many food choices near where our seats were. I was only able to have froyo. It came in a Yankees’ cap cup, which was pretty cool. The stadium was very crowded. Every time when Jeter was at bat, everyone stood up and cheered for him. I had a great time. #2Respect
This was my second time stayed at a hospital overnight this year. I hope this would be the last time ever for me. On the way home, stopping by Brownstone Dinner seemed becoming a tradition for us. Since I had to watch what I was eating this time, I ordered a greek yogurt with berries, which was pretty good. Alex ordered chicken quesadilla and curly fries.
I was very looking forward to go home, shower then rest. First Flight Home by Jake Miller suited well with this meal.
